Check acton hobbys, he does discounts for people who go to close action, but his price on them has not been fixed, intrestingly enough I ordered 4 mp40 mags on Sunday from RSOV, he said on Tuesday he had posted them & they arrived through the letterbox on Fri, thats very fast

Just got a quote from gunners of $70 dollars freight by air or $58 by sea.
Underwhelmed, will cancel and buy from UK instead as in no big rush .
$70 is only
I've gone for the alternative to hi-caps - a double pouchful of lo-caps!! ![]()

I hope Action Hobby will be getting a good few in, it's on my list as well...
Regarding magazines, after the debacle with the truly awful TOP Hicap mags, i'm so used to locaps on my current MP40 that I dont think i'll bother with hicaps for the AGM/ASF/S-3 (or whatever they're calling it this week) at all.

When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........
I suppose lo caps will be more realistic, I have already got the mags from RSOV so juat need the gun now,
Ste.D

Cool footage - both of 'em! My 4 mags arrived today. Like you, Steve, I ordered the mags first from RSOV, but then I decided to order the gun from RSOV too. When he emailed to confirm the order, he asked if I wanted any more mags...... ah, what the heck! So I should end up with 7! One in the gun and six in the SoF 6-mag pouches!
It's been 2 days since the gun was posted - it left HK yesterday.
And RSOV has the mags back in stock, by the looks of things - reduced to

Mine arrived today, looks worth the money, I got it out of the box, it was heavier than I thought, its finish is matt black although its shown on the box as having brown grips, a quick look at the instruction sheet & I was able to put a battery in it, I used a fully charged one I had & left its own one in the box, I squeezed the trigger to make sure it was working, it sounded nice,
I loaded up the magazine + the 4 spare mags I got & went outside, a few shots & I adjusted the hop, to do this you pull back the cocking lever on the left & the hop adjuster is inside the shell ejection port on the right, after a few shots I got it firing nice & fairly straight, I fired of 2 magazines then chrono'ed it & got an average of 312 fps over 5 shots, not bad, I then blasted off the rest of the magazines,
I though for a minute...it was firing so well should I take it apart to check its build quality? or should I wait till it needs attention then do it? I decided to leave it until something wears or breaks, at 312 fps that should be adequate,
The cyclic rate of fire seems lower than my Thompson but I like that as the real steel MP40 only had a cyclic rate of 500 rounds per minute so that's ok, after a quick check over it I would advise anyone who gets one to check the screws as most where loose, in particular the 2 small screws under the barrel near the magazine well, the grip screw, & the 2 screws through the plastic side guards & the selector switch screw, if you remove the selector lever watch the small spring & plastic piece that pop out, I secured all the screws with a dab of threadlock,
Weak point, the gearbox is secured to the lower receiver with 3 small screws, I think if anything on this gun breaks it will be here, see pic, only time will tell but the metal here is very flimsey, but you can buy 3 of these for the same price as 1 TOP mp40,

Cheers for the heads up Steve, you'll have to give us another report after it's first skirmish !
I was just trying it outside but its so windy, I did have a look at the barrel & hop unit though while securing the small screws & as Taffy says over on ASC they are non standard, it looks like the barrel is glued in & the hop rubber is non standard, also the air nozzle is not a AK type so don't all rush out buy AK air nozzles
Ste.D

I ordered mine from http://www.boomarms.com It arrived via ups within 4 days cost about 85 quid landed. my only complaint is that the hop seems to be fairly naff. mine shoots to the right. ROF is goood I, like steiner have gone for 8 (yes
mp40 mags in yer holder on each side all ordered from rsov who seems to be in a bit of chaos at the moment... Taffy over on ASCUK has a fix for the hop unit but it is destructive. Me i am delighted if it breaks tomorrow it will have worked better than my TOP......Ste.d Can the TOP hicaps be modded to fit by say replacing the loading end....

Not sure about modding top hi caps but you should be able to fit the internals out of a TM uzi hi cap in, & then fill it by removing the top, or cut a hole in the back of the mag & fit a flap over it, but I have a load of lo caps too so not to worried,
Ste.D

MP40 arrived! Got to go to work now. ![]()

Well, I've fired it now - but it was dark, so I couldn't see the flight of the BBs. However, the old shed took a pounding! ![]()

I would get a spare batt or two if your going to use it for a full a full days skirmish, you can get slightly more powerfull ones that fit in, fairly cheap, 1400mah 8.4v min type.
Ste.D

OK, and that's not going to be too powerful for the gears, etc?

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
No, a 1400mah battrey should be fine as long as its a 8.4v, it will jut last longer, get a good make like a Intellect, you coul try a 9.6v but you will have a unrealistic rate of fire, I want a slower rate of fire like a real mp40, higher voltages will wear your components out faster, but the gears look pretty good,
On the hi cap conversion topic uzing uzi hi cap internals, I think rather than removing the top cap every time you want to fill it, I will drill a large round hole towards the top of the magazine, this can be plugged with a flat rubber gromet, it can be removed to pour the bbs in, or left out & the magazine filled up as your firing! just pour them in! with the right grommet they should fit in the pouches ok,
Ste.D

or just a bit of tape to cover the hole up... cheaper to replace than a grommet ![]()
